PDF QR code generator
Link a code to a PDF you have online, and a scan opens the document.
What is your QR code for?
No link yet? Upload the PDF to QR Hippo and swap the file later without reprinting (Pro).
Make one in three steps
- Upload your PDF to your website, Google Drive or Dropbox.
- Set sharing so anyone with the link can view it.
- Paste the link, scan the preview, then download.
What goes inside the code
An example, using sample details:
https://example.com/brochure.pdf
- Check sharing settings first
- Drive and Dropbox files are often private by default. Open the link in a private browser window. If it asks you to sign in, people scanning will hit the same wall.
- Keep the file small
- A large brochure is slow to open over mobile data. Compress the images and export at screen quality, so the document opens quickly in a shop or at a stand.
- Replace the file, keep the link
- Some hosts let you upload a new version under the same link. If yours does, you can update the PDF without changing the printed code.
Host the PDF with us
Pro ($4.99 a month) hosts your PDF behind a dynamic code. Upload a new version whenever it changes, and see how many times the code was scanned.
Common questions
Can I upload my PDF to QR Hippo?
Not on the free generator, which links to a PDF you already host. Pro includes hosted PDFs, so you can upload the file to us and point a dynamic code at it.
Why does the generator warn me about my link?
It checks whether the link ends in .pdf or comes from Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive or SharePoint. If not, it reminds you to check the link opens the file itself and that anyone can view it.
Will the code break if I move the file?
Yes, if the old link stops working, because a static code opens exactly the address inside it. A dynamic code lets you point the same printed code at the new location.
